  1. Is the College recognized by the government?

Mysore college of Engineering and management (MyCEM) is affiliated to VTU, Belgaum and approved by AICTE , New Delhi.

 

  1. How is the placement opportunities provided to the students?

The placement is excellent, this year nearly 100+ companies visited our campus for placement and offered package of up to 6 LPA. The best part is that students from different branches have been placed in their respective Core Companies. To boost the placements, we have established several Centre of Excellence which have training center(MyCEM TIP)  to train our students as per requirements of the industry. Students don’t have to pay anything extra for these trainings. Also, the college has strong Training and Placement department which assist each student for their summer internship and placements.

 

  1. What is the induction program and what is its purpose?

The Induction Program engages with the new batch of students as soon as they come into the institution. Regular classes start only after the completion of the Induction Program. At the start of the induction, the incumbents learn about the institutional policies, processes, practices, culture and values, and their mentor groups are formed.

Purpose of the Student Induction Program is to help new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self exploration.

 

  1. Should I attend the induction program or directly attend classes?

Attending induction is mandatory for all first year students. Irrespective of the stage or time of your admission, all students are instructed to attend the induction program. Attending the induction will be beneficial to the students as it helps them familiarize with the college campus, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in college.

 

  1. Is wearing ID cards compulsory on campus?

Yes, wearing ID cards while on campus is mandatory. Entry to certain places and availment of certain facilities such as Library, Reference Section, Propel-Labs, etc., will be entirely restricted if the student is not wearing the ID card.

 

  1. When will I get my ID card?

First year students will be given temporary ID cards within 3 weeks of commencements of classes.

 

  1. What is USN and when will I get it?

USN stands for University Seat Number and is given to each student from the university (VTU). Students are expected to get their USNs before their first semester’s Semester End Exams.

 

  1. Who is a mentor and what is their role?

Mentor is a faculty member who is assigned from the concerned department (the department to which the student is admitted to, eg. Civil Engineering) to each student. The mentor is responsible to monitor the academic performance and progress of the students assigned to them. The mentor is also the faculty point of contact for the student with the department and institution. If a student has any doubts with regards to the academic rules and regulations, procedures or they have any issues, they can reach out to their mentor for help.

  1. How much attendance should I maintain to be eligible for Semester End Exams?

A minimum of 85% of classes should be attended to be eligible for Semester End Exams. In case of unavoidable circumstances, an attendance of 75% and above will be considered on production of relevant certificates and proof to code one the 10% difference.

 

  1. Do we have dress code at college?

Yes, there is college uniform for the students except Saturday. Students are however expected to be dressed in appropriate and presentable attire, keeping in mind the college is an educational institution.

 

  1. Is there vehicle parking for students?

Yes, there exists provision for students to park their two-wheeler vehicles only. However, four wheelers owned by students are not allowed on campus.

 

  1. Is hostel facility available at the college?

Hostel accommodation is available with 1/2/3 member room. Vegetarian mess is operated in hostel. We have hostels for boys.

 

  1. Do you have internet facilities at the college?

Yes, the internet and wi-fi facilities are available.

 

  1. What are the different Academic events which are being organized in College?

There are numerous Academic activities conducted at MyCEM, such as:-
